Versilia for decades has been a regular destination for international viveurs and lovers of the Tuscan Dolce Vita. Next to the historic baths and exclusive fish restaurants, there are the most exclusive clubs and discos of the coast. Since the Sixties, artists and celebrities have joined the many young Italians and foreigners to enjoy the best cocktails and dance on the long summer nights.

Today as then, the most renowned clubs in Versilia are populated by locals and tourists in search of fun, good music and happy hours by the sea.

Historic clubs: from Capannina to Seven Apples

The Capannina di Franceschi, a stronghold of disco music in Forte dei Marmi, is worthy of mention among the very first places of entertainment in Versilia. Founded in 1929 as a beach bar, the restaurant had an unexpected success, contributing to the city’s fame in international tourism. Next to millions of young people from the world, this nightclub boasts some noble and intellectual clients, such as Della Gherardesca, Rucellai, Rospigliosi and Sforza, Repaci, Ungaretti, Montale, Levi. Today soubrettes and cabaret artists are regular guests of Capannina, attracted by the perfect combination of disco music, live show and glamorous atmosphere.

Taking about Capannina, a second name immediately comes to mind: the Bussola in Marina di Pietrasanta, very popular in the 1960s. Opened in 1955, this club hosted concerts of the most beloved Italian singers, such as Fabrizio De André, Patty Pravo, Mina and Adriano Celentano. And also international talents such as Miles Davis, Ray Charles and Louis Armstrong. Today the Bussola remains one of the most frequented destinations by the very young and not only, emerging as a temple of contemporary music in Versilia.

In Marina di Pietrasanta there is also the Seven Apples, another historic nightclub born in 1971. Here the unmissable night is Sunday, to close the weekend in the best way: listening to great music, with a delicious drink and meeting new people. The spectacular poolside aperitif is just the prelude to exciting nights.

The most innovative discos, from Forte dei Marmi to Viareggio

Next to historical places, those coming on holiday in Forte dei Marmi cannot miss one or more nights at the Twiga Beach Club, not far from our 4-star hotel in Versilia. Here every detail is about exclusivity, from the large gazebos to the careful selection at the entrance (pay attention to the outfit!) ... after all the owner is the entrepreneur Flavio Briatore. The restaurant proposes a quite expensive menu, but the after-dinner poolside offers moments of pure adrenaline.

The Versilia Beach Club is located in Cinquale, just north of the famous Capannina. By day it stands out among the most elegant baths on the coast, changing face as the evening falls: from the aperitif to the sunset until the after dinner frequented by international guests and the best DJs.

Very modern in furnishing and design, the Versilia Beach Club features white leather sofas, brand-new point bars and a huge stained glass window plunging into the sea. A night here is hard to forget!

Moving towards the elegant and liberty Viareggio, we point out a special place for summer fun. This is the Maki Maki, open from late afternoon to late night, with a range of services including bar, catering, aperitif and - of course - music. Just the aperitif accompanied by DJ sets inaugurates the long nights of Viareggio, and it’s only a taste of the following hours. The main characteristics of the restaurant are the large garden all around and the charming terrace.
